Time Trial Madness

Yes its true, tonight at the time trial I ran a personal best time of 26:46! That's a pace of less than 5:30/km! Wow, I am super stoked! But what can I attribute this to? Is there something I did differently? I didn't guzzle down 100g of chocolate, which has been my go to move of late. So it must be something else. Guess that's why I'm posting this, to see what it was that made me run faster. Granted it could have to do with the fact that I was trying to keep up with a cute girl for the first bit, and just continued for the rest, I definitely did feel like I was pushing too hard at 3km! But here's what I did prior to the run. First off I ran a 21.1km race on Sunday, in a decent time. Then I did a 5km on Monday. On Tuesday I did no real exercise, aside from 5 pull ups in the evening. Wednesday I included some baked beans into my soup/veggie smoothie, as well as a dash of tomato sauce. It was a good change to purely veg and lentils, might well try it again, although with baked beans, my flatulence definitely increased! A definite downside. I also eat a meal at 16:00 2 hours before the run, and I had a cup of coffee at about 17:25-17:35, preceded by 2 glasses of water. That was it, no significant warm up (unless you call jogging 500m from home to the start a warm up). I think it might have been the meal/caffeine strategy, but who's to say, I will try again, and see how things work out...
