From diet to lifestyle

So its been a while since I last posted here. The 2 month trail period is long gone, and now I am no longer dieting, rather the diet has become a lifestyle. I have plateaued out at an approximately 100kg weight, which I am more than happy with. I have not got the tone that I want, but have also not put in the time training that that would require, so that's not really a surprise. I have however entered my first marathon, so maybe in conjuction with that I will develop more tone! I have done a personal best half marathon time this year, doing 2:11:17, a full 8 minutes better than my previous time!

Here are my current stats:

Left Bicep - 35cm
Right Bicep - 35cm
Waist - 97.5cm
Hips - 109cm
Left Thigh - 62cm
Right Thigh - 62cm
Total cm - 403.5cm

Weight - 100.1kg

Time Trial Madness

Yes its true, tonight at the time trial I ran a personal best time of 26:46! That's a pace of less than 5:30/km! Wow, I am super stoked! But what can I attribute this to? Is there something I did differently? I didn't guzzle down 100g of chocolate, which has been my go to move of late. So it must be something else. Guess that's why I'm posting this, to see what it was that made me run faster. Granted it could have to do with the fact that I was trying to keep up with a cute girl for the first bit, and just continued for the rest, I definitely did feel like I was pushing too hard at 3km! But here's what I did prior to the run. First off I ran a 21.1km race on Sunday, in a decent time. Then I did a 5km on Monday. On Tuesday I did no real exercise, aside from 5 pull ups in the evening. Wednesday I included some baked beans into my soup/veggie smoothie, as well as a dash of tomato sauce. It was a good change to purely veg and lentils, might well try it again, although with baked beans, my flatulence definitely increased! A definite downside. I also eat a meal at 16:00 2 hours before the run, and I had a cup of coffee at about 17:25-17:35, preceded by 2 glasses of water. That was it, no significant warm up (unless you call jogging 500m from home to the start a warm up). I think it might have been the meal/caffeine strategy, but who's to say, I will try again, and see how things work out...

Measurements 5/2/2012

Should I start to be getting worried, since I am losing way too much weight? My stats are as follows:

Weight - 98kg

Left Bicep 34.5cm
Right Bicep 34.5cm
Waist  95cm
Hips 109cm
Left Thigh 58cm
Right Thigh 58cm
Total 389cm

I really do need to start hitting the weights, as I am beginning to feel light, even thought my waist is shrinking, so are my arms and legs, two areas where I don't really need to lose weight...

Weigh in 2 - 31 December 2011

So today is my second cheat day, so I decided I would do a weigh in, before I gorge on fast food and chocolate.

Left Bicep - 35cm
Right Bicep - 35.5cm
Waist - 98.5cm
Hips - 112.5cm
Left Thigh - 59.5cm
Right Thigh - 59cm
Total cm - 400cm

Weight 101.7 kg (after my breakfast of  2 eggs, a can of baked beans, a glass of water and a cup of coffee)

So far the diet is going fairly well. I need to up my protein intake, since I am feeling very hungry at times, and so don't always stick to the only eating every 4 hours thing. But on the whole I'm doing good. My fall back meal is frozen peas, lentils, soup mix, spice and a bit of Tabasco. I'm going to really pig out today, and see if I can put on a few kilos. Guess the diet has made me crave junk a bit!!!

Tuesday 27 December 2011

Weighing in at 101.6 kg after my first week or so of dieting. I guess I must have put on a bit during my binge day, but probably lost a bunch, since i did a 16km trail run yesterday.
