Weigh in 2 - 31 December 2011

So today is my second cheat day, so I decided I would do a weigh in, before I gorge on fast food and chocolate.

Left Bicep - 35cm
Right Bicep - 35.5cm
Waist - 98.5cm
Hips - 112.5cm
Left Thigh - 59.5cm
Right Thigh - 59cm
Total cm - 400cm

Weight 101.7 kg (after my breakfast of  2 eggs, a can of baked beans, a glass of water and a cup of coffee)

So far the diet is going fairly well. I need to up my protein intake, since I am feeling very hungry at times, and so don't always stick to the only eating every 4 hours thing. But on the whole I'm doing good. My fall back meal is frozen peas, lentils, soup mix, spice and a bit of Tabasco. I'm going to really pig out today, and see if I can put on a few kilos. Guess the diet has made me crave junk a bit!!!

Weighing in at 101.6 kg after my first week or so of dieting. I guess I must have put on a bit during my binge day, but probably lost a bunch, since i did a 16km trail run yesterday.

Body fat - Unknown - Guess I will have to get this measured someplace professional...

Diet starts 19 December 2011
Basics:

  • Avoid white carbohydrates (or anything that can be white)
  • Eat the same few meal over and over again
  • Don't drink calories
  • Don't eat fruit
  • Take one day off a week, and go nuts!
Well there you have it, guess my adventure is off to a start. I will commit to keeping weekly posts, but may post more, depending on my progress.

Rationale

So for years I have been trying to lose my body fat. I have never really been able to get anywhere with this goal, even when I was super fit, playing loads of sport and running PB's I still have body fat that, and little muscle definition.

At the moment, I am probably as fit as I've ever been in the last 5 years. I have lost about 10kg of weight during the past year, and am doing exercise 4-5 times a week, excluding my push up routine (which I do while I wait for my coffee to brew, so I do it every time I have coffee at home). However, while the weight I've lost is obvious, and I have received many comments, that's really not enough, its not weight I want to lose, but body fat. I have done a bunch of stuff over the years, but mainly focusing on eating healthily (I sort of achieve this) and doing more exercise (this fluctuates). And with this approach has come fairly standard results. I lose weight here, and pick up there, but never really do anything to the real enemy, which is the all elusive body fat monster.

Recently I have been looking at my life, and realised I have been applying the same formula and trying to get different results, the definition (according to Einstein I think) of insanity. So I have decided to do something diffferent. So I am embarking on an extreme diet, and fitness regime, which I hope will bring better results than what I have tried so far. I'm going to give it a month to see if I can do it, and if it does indeed have any effect on me, so here goes. Also I have decided to blog my progress, as I am told that this creates an element of accountability, and I need all the accountability I can get. This is possibly going to be one of the biggest challenges of my life, but as they say "with great risk comes the possibility of great reward."

So here begins my first step into the vast unknown of personal experimentation with dieting and tweaking my body.

Oh, and on a side note, I am pretty freaked out by drugs and everything, so I am going to be staying away from so called fat loss drugs. I might start to ascribe to supplementation, but not screwing with my body via chemicals!
